Arlita Harris is an experienced librarian and public administrator, having served as director of five public library systems and one university library in Illinois, Texas, Florida, and Kenya, as well as Quality of Life Administrator for the City of Clearwater, Florida.

She has served as Associate Dean of the School of Library and Information Sciences where she developed and taught online courses in Library Management, Advanced Management, Financial and Human Resources Management, and Library Buildings.  She currently teaches LE@D’s CPLA certification courses in Budget/Finance, Fundraising/Grantsmanship, and Planning and Managing Buildings.  She has written four books, including Municipal Budgets and Finances published this year by the Texas Municipal Clerks Association. 

Dr. Harris’ education includes BS in English from Illinois State University; MS in Library Science from University of Illinois; and PhD in Public Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Kevin Haney has been with LE@D since 2005, beginning as a part-time customer service representative. He has been with LE@D full time since January, 2007.

Kevin has a BBA in General Business from the University of North Texas and will begin work on an MBA in Accounting in the Fall of 2008. Kevin is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Beta Gamma Sigma.

 

 
Alese Smith

Alese Smith
Senior Instructional Designer

Alese Smith has more than 12 years experience in Instructional Design and related work.  She helped pioneer the first national virtual high school, has designed and authored courses for organizations such as PBS and other universities, and has authored several papers and presentations on distance and blended learning.

Alese lives with her husband Ray and her cat Wichu in Austin, Texas .

LE@D has received the Library Instruction Project of the Year Award from the Texas Library Association. This award is created and awarded by the Library Instruction Round Table (LIRT) of the Texas Library Association (TLA), and recognizes an innovative or creative library instruction project or initiative in Texas.
