Course Structure/Delivery: online, asynchronous, uses WebCT Vista Learning Management System

This course will introduce the library manager to fundraising and grantwriting for librarians. Topics include alternative fundraising through library foundations, friends of libraries, trusts and wills, endowments, gifts and donations, volunteers, and partnerships; as well as grant writing, including grant sources, compliance, reporting, and evaluation.

Enrollment Process: Please use the registration link below or e-mail your name, address, phone number and e-mail address to arlita.harris@verizon.net  with the course name and the date that you plan to begin the course (November 1, January 1, March 1, etc.) .  An invoice for payment by check to the University of North Texas will be e-mailed to you.  When your check is received, course log-on information will be e-mailed back to you.

A personal computer with Internet access, using one of the following operating systems: PC: Windows 98 (2nd edition), 2000, XP or Mac: OS 9, OSX; a recent web browser. This is a Web-based course taught by Dr. Arlita Harris. The instructor will not meet with the class in person. Assignments are submitted to the appropriate Discussion forums on the dates indicated on the course calendar. There is much discussion among students and instructor in the topical discussion forums and at the Water Cooler (for non-course-related conversation). There are no scheduled chats during the semester. Questions and comments relating to course issues in general should be posted in the Main Forum. Other Discussions and Responses to other class members' comments are to be posted in the designated Discussion Topic Forums. In order to communicate directly (and privately) with the course instructor or other students, you should use WebCT e-mail. Comments and questions not dealing with the specific assignments may be posted to the Water Cooler topic in Class Communications.

 

Webinar Features Pat Wagner and LE@D

The WebJunction February Learning Webinar featured Pat Wagner, well-known educator, trainer, writer and consultant for the library community. Pat discussed what challenges Library Leaders face and how leadership training for all library personnel might help address these issues. She also discussed why she has partnered with LE@D, Lifelong Education @ Desktop, whose classes are available through WebJunction, as the primary online source for her library programs. Pat provided a sneak peek at the content of some of the courses she's writing for LE@D.
