This course will introduce the library manager to facility management and maintenance as applied to the library and information center environment. Topics include building construction, renovation and remodeling, maintenance, leasing/renting, utilities, and security and safety issues.

  • Understand site selection and development issues
  • Guide informed decisions about renovating or remodeling an existing facility
  • Monitor construction and renovation projects to keep maintenance costs down
  • Make cost-effective decisions regarding leasing and renting
  • Design projects for energy efficiency
  • Understand security and safety issues
